Others present for the meeting were: Alan Rusch – Ellsworth County Independent/Reporter; Theresa Staudinger – City Attorney; Bob Doepp – Wilson Police Chief; Ted Soukup – City Superintendent; and Susan Kriley – City Clerk.
CALL TO ORDER-
Mayor Larry Ptacek called the Regular Meeting of the Wilson City Council to order on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
Darcy Hubka-Vopat made a motion to approve the May 21, 2018 agenda. Gary Everett seconded the motion and it carried.
Cindy Heinze made a motion to approve the May 7, 2018 regular meeting minutes. Lorie Taylor seconded the motion and it carried.
BILLS AND PAYROLL -
Gary Everett made a motion to approve the May 21, 2018 bills in the amount of $6,263.26 and the May 16, 2018 payroll in the amount of $10,158.84. Steve Claussen seconded the motion and it carried.
BUDGET REPORT AS OF APR 30, 2018 AND FINANCIAL REPORT JAN-APR 2018 -
The Budget Report as of April 30, 2018 and Financial Report Jan – Apr 2018 were presented for information.
CITY SUPERINTENDENT REPORT WITH TED SOUKUP-
- Mowing and weed eating to prepare for Memorial Day
CITY CLERK REPORT WITH SUSAN KRILEY-
- Confirmed with Ted Soukup that there is no official opening date for the Splash Pad opening due to the wait on needed service parts.
- Mowing letters were sent to approximately ten property owners. Three property owners have not mowed so those were turned over to contract mowers (as done at the end of the 2017 mowing season).
- The Council will need to decide when they plan to allow fireworks to be discharged at the June 4, 2018 Council meeting.
POLICE CHIEF REPORT WITH BOB DOEPP-
- Two arrests and juvenile issues
Steve Claussen reported that he heard there was bullying at the Spray Park by two kids. Bob Doepp indicated that they were reported to him and he believes that it has been handled. Steve also asked if the City crew could purchase sunscreen and bug spray, the Council had no objections.
STORAGE CONTAINER ORDINANCE (PROPOSED) -
Theresa Staudinger reviewed the proposed ordinance. The Council decided to send a letter and a copy of the proposed ordinance to all property owners that have a storage container on their property and invite them to the June 18, 2018 Council meeting.
APPLIANCE TRAILER -
Gary Everett will talk to Jerry Florian regarding the appliance trailer issues.
INOPERABLE VEHICLES -
Research is being done to find a company to pay individuals to haul off their inoperable vehicles.
SERVICE FEE SCHEDULE-
The Service Fee Schedule was presented for information.
