Child Support Enforcement Program

The community of Wilson, Kansas invites you to partner with us for a mutually successful project. Wilson is ready, willing and able to provide an ideal environment for the new Child Support Services Call Center.

Our Location:
Wilson is located in the Smoky Hills region of North Central Kansas on the I-70 corridor. The area offers the best of all things. There is easy access to commerce, both locally and nearby. The larger cities of Hays and Salina are a short drive away. Recreation is abundant via the beautiful blue waters of Lake Wilson. If you enjoy hunting for birds, turkey or deer, we have it all.

Our Work Force:
We have a labor force of the highest work ethic. There are ample labor forces both locally and within an easy commute. The local K-12 school produces well educated and skilled students ready for college or the workforce. Barton County Community College, Fort Hays State University and K-State - Salina are among nearby higher learning institutions providing additional skilled employees.

Call Center Facilities:
The Wilson community is ready to work with you to provide the ideal building and related facilities. The City of Wilson, along with Wilson Economic Development, a not-for-profit corporation, and private businesses together possess the necessary resources which will result in a facility that combines the technology and environment to meet the goals of this project. Both new and existing structures are possible solutions for the Call Center. We propose to work together with interested vendors to identify the project specifics which yield the results needed to win selection by the state and produce a viable business that benefits both the vendor and the Wilson community. Wilson Economic Development has several housing lots available to accommodate new residents who would be employed at the Call Center. It also has ideal land available to construct the call center if that proves to be the best solution for you. The land is located right on Old Highway 40 in the heart of Wilson. Access to I-70 is only 2 miles to the north. Telecommunications and power facilities are readily available as described below.

Communications Technology and Power Resources:
The local communications provider, Wilson Telephone possesses a modern network capable of virtually any required circuit configuration. The network is switched by a state of the art softswitch capable of circuit or packet switching. The transport network is able to provision necessary bandwidth from T1 to OC48. Loop facilities are buried for added reliability. Redundancy and standby power are also provided. The building will be wired with Cat 5 for ideal data and voice transport.
Power is provisioned by Rollings Hills Electric Cooperative. Power is stable via a MGN system and both single phase and three phase power delivery is available.

Security:
Wilson is a safe and welcoming community. Both local and county law enforcement is present to provide assistance if ever needed.

The Community:
When you picture rural America at its best, picture Wilson, KS. A community where children are safe and well educated. A community where neighbor helps neighbor. Volunteers gladly step forward for any cause where a helping hand is needed. The community also has several churches representing various denominations. Our annual After Harvest, Czech Festival is a model of a community coming together to have a good time, celebrate the community’s heritage and serve thousands of visitors providing businesses strong revenues. However, like many small rural communities, Wilson has limited employment opportunities. Many skilled employees are now traveling outside of the community to earn their living. Providing local employment, which has a good benefit package, will attract well qualified employees. We continue to try and attract businesses to our Main street area. Though we’ve had some successes, empty buildings still exist. A call center employing 20 – 40 people would be a great improvement to our local economy.

Past Successes:
The Wilson community is no stranger to successfully completing major projects. Two recent examples are the renovation of the historic Midland Hotel www.midland-hotel.com and the conversion of the old grade school into a beautiful assisted living center – Longfellow Corners. These two examples illustrate Wilson community’s ability to successfully accomplish large scale projects.
